For architect Michael Obermair, I photographed a villa in Steyr – a house of concrete, wood and glass that opens up completely towards the garden.
Its defining feature is the cantilevered upper floor with vertical slats and a glass balcony, which gives the building tension. Towards the garden, a natural stone terrace, a stainless steel pool and a separate pool house adjoin.
Photographed in daylight and at dusk: during the day, material and landscape take centre stage; in the evening, the illuminated pool and the warm interiors take over. Only both moods together show what this house can do.
