For Elmer Fenster, I photographed a residential house right on Lake Traunsee – frameless glass fronts, large panoramic glazing, sliding doors to the wooden terrace.
A house on the lake sets a clear task: the lake has to appear in every image without the house becoming secondary. Frameless glazing makes this possible – and that's exactly why it is tricky to photograph. After all, what you are supposed to show is the absence of something.
That's why I mostly photographed from inside: from the lounge area, from the entrance hall, from the terrace. The view passes through the glass – and the quality of the element shows in the fact that you don't notice it.
