For Gahleitner Architekten, I photographed the renovation of a period apartment in Peuerbach – a conversion that lets old and new stand side by side.
The historic green tiled stove remains, as do the round arches and the white panelled doors in the hallway. Alongside them stands the new: a handleless fitted kitchen with an illuminated plinth, a guest WC with a wooden washstand and concealed fittings, a wellness area with a KLAFS designer sauna.
I was particularly interested in the details that are easy to overlook – such as the specially designed radiator cover. Little things like this determine whether a renovation feels coherent, and that's why they deserve to be photographed.
